After the end of the Jacobins‘ reign of terror, the fashion of the Incroyables and Merveilleuses (the Incredibles and Marvelous) emerged in France, especially in Paris, who cultivated an extremely dandyish style of dress. Our sheet caricatures such excesses, the party is gathered here around a card table. It is dated Nov. 9, 1801.
A small stain in the lower border, otherwise very good conservation.
